Join Thomas Peer in the professional services team as a L2 IT Support Technician based at our Head office, on a full-time basis supporting our managed services based on Veeam. You will have exposure to a broad range of Veeam related issues and will be part of the team that is responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s managed services systems and associated hardware, plus general maintenance of all IT-related hardware/software across the facility.
Job description
- The job role of a L2 IT Support Technician involves working closely with customers, sales teams, and technical partners to understand customer requirements and design effective solutions using Veeam’s backup, disaster recovery, and intelligent data management products. Solutions Engineers act as technical experts, providing guidance, support, and consultation throughout the sales process. Their responsibilities typically include:
- Pre-sales Support: Collaborating with the sales team to identify customer needs, provide Veeam technical expertise, and assist with solution design. This involves conducting product demonstrations, delivering presentations, and addressing technical questions and concerns.
- Solution Design: Working closely with customers to understand their backup and data protection infrastructure, data protection requirements, and business goals. Based on this understanding, to design customized solutions using Veeam’s products, ensuring that they meet the specific needs and objectives of each customer.
- Proof of Concept (PoC) and Testing: Setting up and configuring Veeam software in customer environments to demonstrate its capabilities and validate its effectiveness. Solutions Engineers may conduct PoCs and perform testing to showcase the benefits of Veeam solutions and address any technical challenges or requirements.
- Technical Consultation: Acting as a trusted advisor to customers, providing technical guidance on Veeam and best practices for implementing and optimizing Veeam solutions. Solutions Engineers offer recommendations, address customer concerns, and help with the planning and execution of data protection strategies.
- Collaboration and Training: Collaborating with Veeam’s technical partners, including resellers, system integrators, and managed service providers, to ensure successful integration and deployment of Veeam products. Solutions Engineers may also deliver training sessions and workshops to partners and customers to enhance their understanding of Veeam solutions.
- Product Knowledge and Expertise: Staying up to date with Veeam’s product portfolio, new releases, features, and industry trends. Solutions Engineers continuously expand their technical knowledge and expertise to effectively address customer requirements and provide the best possible solutions.
- Overall, as a Veeam Solutions Engineer, you will play a vital role in understanding customer needs, designing tailored solutions, and providing technical expertise to drive successful implementations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Attributes (Essential)
- At least a diploma in IT/ICT and/or minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
- Must be a certified Veeam Engineer – VMCE.
- Veeam specializes in data protection and management solutions, so having a strong understanding of backup and recovery concepts, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), storage systems, and cloud computing can be beneficial. Familiarity with Veeam’s products and services will be necessary.
- Previous experience in the IT industry, particularly in areas such as data protection, backup and recovery, virtualization, or storage, can be advantageous.
- Previous experience with data monitoring, pre-sales engineering, or customer support roles can also be considered.
- Strong technical and analytical skills are crucial, including problem-solving, troubleshooting, and the ability to understand and articulate complex concepts. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as Veeam values customer engagement and collaboration.
- Pragmatic approach to your work and good communication skills to deal with people with varying levels of tech savvy.
